CIB RC No. CIR-116533/2014-Paclobutrazol (SC) (351)-19

Technical Name Paclobutrazol 23% W/W (25% W/V) SC

Mode of Action – The mode of action of Pacloboost is the inhibition of gibberellic acid synthesis in plants. The inhibition of gibberellin production by Pacloboost results in slow cell division and elongation without causing toxicity to cells. It is believed that a group of plant hormones called gibberellins act as inhibitors to flowering. When Pacloboost is applied to the soil, it moves up through the roots into the shoots and, due to its anti-gibberellin properties, blocks the synthesis of flowering inhibitors, thereby allowing the flower-promoting factor(s) to work.

Benefits – Potential benefits of Pacloboost includes :

  • Pacloboost contains paclobutrazol, a Phyto regulator, which acts by inhibiting the synthesis of gibberellins and also producing a decrease in vegetative growth.
  • The benefit from the use of Pacloboost is balanced foliage and in the reduction of vegetative growth and also reduction in pruning (removal of certain parts of plants)
  • Pacloboost has effects on fruit quality (colour, size, maturation and yield).
  • In the cultivation of the mango, along with good cultural practices, the use of Pacloboost can advance and stimulate the flowering.
  • The absorption of Pacloboost applied to the soil (more efficient) is done through the roots, being transported by the xylem to the points of vegetative growth where it controls vegetative growth of plant.
