CIB RC No. – CIR-138044/2017-Fipronil (SC) (374)-993
Technical Name – Fipronil 5% SC
Mode of Action – Figent primarily acts as an ingestion toxicant with some complimentary contact action and acts by interfering in nerve impulse transmission. Fipronil in Figent interferes with the passage of chloride ions through the Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) regulated chloride channel. It blocks the passage/uptake of chloride ions resulting in excess neuronal stimulation. This hyperexcitation of insects’ nerves and muscles leads death of the target insect.
Benefits –
- Figent is a broad-spectrum insecticide of phenyl-pyrazole group of insecticides.
- Figent has both contact and stomach action, is also having systemic action.

- Figent is good thripicide: provides excellent result against thrips.
- Figent has quick and long duration control, feeding of treated insects stops soon after treatment.
- Figent has greater affinity for binding with insect receptor complexes than to mammalian complexes which gives it more selectivity for insects and safe for people and animals.
- Figent has longer persistency and greater solubility in water.
