CIB RC No. – CIR-138145/2017-Diafenthiuron (WP) (374)-291
Technical Name – Diafenthiuron 50% WP
Mode of Action – The active ingredient of Pegus 50 is a thiourea. The thiourea is not active by itself but has first to be converted to its derivative form. This conversion can take place abiotically in the environment, or due to metabolism in the pest. The mode of action results in paralysis of the pest after intake of or contact with the Pegus 50. The pest remains immobile on the crop until death after around 3-4 days (hidden knock-down effect). After the first intake no further damage occurs on the crop. Pegus 50 has translaminar activity and has excellent contact and stomach action with some ovicidal action.
Benefits –
- Unique chemistry with a new mode of action of Pegus 50 – controls resistant strains of mites, whiteflies, and hence low risk of cross resistance with existing chemicals.
- Pegus 50 has broad spectrum of activity – covers a wide range of sucking pests.
- Pegus 50 has long duration of activity hence requires fewer sprays compared to traditional products.
- Pegus 50 Degraded into its urea derivative which has phytotonic effect and hence increase in crop yield.
- After spraying of Pegus 50 insects or pests immediately stops feeding, reproduction and mobility. After first uptake, the pest does not damage the crop any further.
- Pegus 50 is a broad-spectrum insecticide and acaricide (Mites & Ticks killer) also.
- Pegus 50 has both contact and stomach action; also having systemic action.
- Pegus 50 is inhibitor of mitochondrial respiration and has translaminar action, which allows control of hidden pests in the plant canopy and on the underside of the leaves.
